Portugal Covid rules

Social distancing measures and other safety precautions are still in place and should be observed at all times. This means you should:

  • Keep a social distance of 2m
  • Wear a face mask in enclosed public spaces  (age 10+ in mainland Portugal and Azores, aged 6+ in Madeira) and outdoors where social distancing of 2m cannot be maintained
  • Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly and use a hand sanitiser where soap and water are not available
  • Follow any safety measures put in place by hotels, restaurants, bars and shops to reduce the risk of infection

Return to the UK

If you are fully vaccinated, you won’t need a pre-departure Covid test before arrival into the UK from a non-red country. You will still need to take a PCR test on day two of your return.

Passengers who aren’t fully vaccinated will still have to take a pre-departure test, a day two and day eight PCR test – and self-isolate for 10 days – upon their return from a non-red list country, including Portugal. Test to Release will remain an option for unvaccinated passengers who wish to shorten their isolation period.

Whatever your Covid status, you will still need to fill out a passenger locator form for England.

It is for guidance only and Portugal can change its rules at short notice. Please make sure you check the rules before planning your trip.
